List the indicators used to estimate multidimensional poor in India.
The National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in India, used by NITI Aayog, estimates poverty based on 3 dimensions and 12 indicators:
1. Health
Nutrition: Based on the body mass index (BMI) of adults and the nutrition of children.
Child and Adolescent Mortality: Any child or adolescent under 18 years of age who has died in the family.
Antenatal Care: Access to healthcare for women during pregnancy.
2. Education
Years of Schooling: Whether any member of the household aged 10 years or older has completed six years of schooling.
School Attendance: Whether any school-aged child is attending school up to the age at which he/she would complete class 8.
3. Standard of Living
Cooking Fuel: Based on whether the family uses wood, charcoal, or dung for cooking.
Sanitation: Access to improved latrines or toilets.
Drinking Water: Access to safe drinking water within a 30-minute walk.
Electricity: Whether the household has access to electricity.
Housing: Based on the type of floor, roof, and walls of the house.
Assets: Ownership of basic items like a radio, TV, phone, bicycle, etc.
Bank Account: Whether any member of the household has a bank or post office account.
