Answer the following questions briefly.
(i) What is the bhabar?
(ii) Name the three major divisions of the Himalayas from north to south.
(iii) Which plateau lies between the Aravali and the Vindhyan ranges?
(iv) Name the island group of India having coral origin.

Answer

(i) Bhabar is a narrow belt of land (about 8 to 16 km wide) covered with pebbles, lying at the foot of the Shiwaliks. Rivers descending from the mountains disappear in this belt.

(ii) 1. The Great or Inner Himalayas (Himadri)
2. The Lesser Himalayas (Himachal)
3. The Outer Himalayas (Shiwaliks)

(iii) The Malwa Plateau.

(iv) Lakshadweep Islands.
