Question

Why is ice at 273 K more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature?

Answer

Ice at 273 K is more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature because ice absorbs extra heat in the form of latent heat of fusion from the surroundings to get converted into water. Water at 273 K does not absorb this extra heat.
