Question
When a sound is reflected from a distant object, an echo is produced. Let the distance between the reflecting surface and the source of sound production remains the same. Do you hear echo sound on a hotter day?
Answer
We may not hear the echo on a hotter day.
Reason:
On a hotter day, the temperature is higher, which causes the speed of sound to increase. Since the distance is constant, the sound returns faster. If the time interval between the original sound and the reflected sound becomes less than 0.1 s, the human ear cannot distinguish the echo.
